Connection brings us closer

In 2020, we set up Tesco Mobile Reconnects to help vulnerable and disadvantaged people reconnect with society – because we believe everyone has the right to be connected.

Mobile connection brings us closer to other people – to society – and provides access to essential services

We care for human connection – it’s what drives us. That’s why, by 2023, we’ve made a promise to donate £2.4 million worth of devices and connectivity to those who need them most.

Frequently asked questions

We care for human connection and believe everyone has the right to be connected. That’s why, between now and 2023, we’re donating £2.4 million worth of devices and connectivity to help vulnerable and disadvantaged people reconnect with society.

We set out to help 13,000 people reconnect with society and hope that, through fundraising, we can double that number. We’re donating devices and providing vulnerable and disadvantaged people with data and connectivity, so they have the opportunity to benefit from all that connection can bring.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, we’ve donated over £3,000,000 worth of devices and connectivity to causes and communities supporting the vulnerable and disadvantaged. We’ve helped over 4,000 charities and community initiatives, and donated more than 27,000 devices and more than 28,000 data-loaded SIMs. Through the first six months of donations, we found that nearly 40% were going to causes combatting homelessness, which led to our partnership with Crisis.

COVID-19 has shown us that, now more than ever, mobile connection brings us closer to other people – to society – and provides access to essential services. For many, a digital connection can be a lifeline, and right now there’s a lack of awareness and understanding about why connectivity is so important for people facing homelessness. Together with Crisis and the many frontline services combatting homelessness, we hope to end homelessness once and for all.
