Checking if your phone is unlocked
If you’ve got a Tesco Mobile phone and you want to use another network’s SIM card in it, just put the SIM into the phone. If it doesn’t work, it’s probably locked.
How to unlock your phone
We don’t charge to unlock Tesco Mobile pay monthly phones or Tesco Mobile pay as you go phones. You just need to complete an online unlocking request and then follow the instructions. We’ll text you within 7 days with the code and a link. Click on the button below and then follow the instructions to unlock your device.

If you don’t know if your phone is pay monthly or pay as you go, we can check for you when you make your unlocking request. Then we’ll text you to let you know what to do next.
Unlocking your pay as you go phone
All Tesco Mobile handsets are now unlocked, if you purchase a handset that is locked you will need a pay as you go SIM card with an active number. An active number is one that has made a chargeable call from the SIM card. If you don’t have one, you can request a free Tesco Mobile SIM.
Once you have received this and have made a chargeable call, you can complete online unlocking request and follow the instructions. We’ll text you within 7 days with a code and a link. Once you receive it, just click on the link and then follow the instructions to unlock your device.
Unlocking your phone to join Tesco Mobile
If you want to use a phone or tablet from another network on Tesco Mobile, you might need to get it unlocked.
To find out if it’s locked to your old network, just put your Tesco Mobile SIM card into your new device. If it doesn’t work, it’s probably locked.
To unlock your device, just call your old network, but please note that they might charge you an unlocking fee.
