So, what is a SIM only contract?
A SIM only contract is a Tesco Mobile contract in which – hold the front page – you only get the SIM! When you sign up for one of these deals we’ll send you one of our SIMs, but you’ll need to provide your own handset.
It doesn’t take Sherlock Holmes to work that out however, so we suppose the real question is…
Why choose a SIM only contract?
There are several benefits to a SIM only contract that make it a handy alternative to the full handset deal.
Firstly, a SIM only deal is usually much cheaper than the alternative, as you won’t be paying for the price of your handset on top of your usage bill. On top of this, using a SIM only package will allow you to focus on tailoring your contract around these usage needs, rather than on the tariffs available on a particular handset. Because of this, you’ll only be paying for the texts, minutes and data that you want.
So if your limited phone use means you don’t get the most out of your current contract, one of our 4G SIMs could be the right option for you.
SIM only deals are also great in terms of their flexibility. At Tesco Mobile, a SIM only contract can last for as little as one month, so you can easily increase or decrease the amount you are paying.
Alternatively, you can take out one of these contracts for a short period of time in order to measure how many minutes you usually need or how much data you use on average. This is a great option if you are unsure about your usage needs, and allows you to test the water rather than blindly committing to a longer handset contract that could be the wrong choice for you.
The flexibility of this form of contract is also useful if you’re waiting for the release of a new handset.
If an old Tesco Mobile contract has come to an end, but you’re holding out on committing to a new deal until a new device is released, a SIM only contract will allow you to continue using your old phone while you’re waiting – and we’ll let you keep your current number.
