Huawei P9 Lite UK Release

Chinese manufacturer Huawei has announced plans to release the P9 Lite in the UK, as a low cost alternative to the P9 and P9 Plus. Looking to rival the iPhone SE, the Huawei P9 Lite offers a less powerful alternative to its sibling, but still has the premium look and feel. It also has a high-resolution rear and front camera, as well as a decent battery, which makes the P9 a great choice for budding photographers. You have the choice of 4GB or 16GB of storage, which can be expanded with a microSD card, and the power of Android Marshmallow at your fingertips. Look out for the Huawei P9 Lite towards the end of May.

HTC 10 Now Available

HTC is back with a brand new flagship phone, the HTC 10. After months of rumours about a rebrand, the Taiwanese company has dropped the ‘One’ and ‘M’ from its title, which indicates a change in direction. It’s definitely a step in the right direction, as the HTC 10 is the best flagship phone they have produced in years. Made entirely of metal, there’s no cheap plastic feel to the handset, and packs a Snapdragon 850 processor and 4GB of RAM behind the 5.2-inch quad HD screen. A brilliant all-round phone, you can get your hands on one today at Tesco Mobile.

Samsung’s Foldable Phone

It may seem like a far-fetched concept, but we could see Samsung’s very first foldable phone on the market as soon as next year. The tech giant has been working on innovate display technology for the last few years and looks set to take it to the next level with a foldable handset, rumoured to be called the Samsung Galaxy X. LG has dabbled in the realm of bendable phones with the G Flex and G Flex 2, but Samsung is rumoured to be working on a foldable 4K display that will keep the resolution as high as possible while bent. Exactly when we’ll see this revolutionary phone next year is unclear.

MV1 4G Coming To The UK

The new Android phone crafted by former Apple-CEO, John Sculley, is set to hit the UK market later this month. The Obi Worldphone MV1 4G features a 5-inch 720p IPS display, complete with Gorilla Glass 3 technology and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 processer. It is a strong, middle-of-the-road phone that doesn’t have a hefty price tag, but isn’t too cheap either. The MV1 has 16GB of strorage, 4G connectivity and a 2,500mAh battery at its disposal, which will suit a variety of customers. Keep an eye out for the MV1 4G at the end of May.

Instagram Update

Instagram got a brand new update this week, which sees the app’s design and icon revamped. The reason behind the new look is to unify the range of tools available from the company, including Boomerang, Hyperlapse and Layout, opting for a gradient-style appearance for the icons. The Instagram app itself has been refined with slick black text and red notifications, which will make your pictures stand out all the more. You can update Instagram on iOS now, with an update for Android expected soon.

That’s our round-up of mobile news this week – be sure to check back next time for the latest updates from Tesco Mobile.
