App of the week: Peanut

App of the week

What is Peanut?

Designed to connect like-minded mothers with similar interests and values, Peanut is a social media app that helps to encourage meaningful friendships between women.

How does Peanut work?

Set up is quick and easy – the app connects to your Facebook account and automatically pulls your photos, location, and occupation to create a profile. Once the profile has been setup, you can edit and add more information, including how many children you have and how old they are. To help you find mums with shared interests, you can add fun badges to your profile, such as ‘fashion killa’, ‘bookworm’, or ‘fitness fiend’.

Peanut’s interface is similar to popular dating apps like Tinder; you can scroll through profiles of other mums and ‘wave’ at any women you think you might get along with. If they ‘wave’ back at you, they’ll appear in your match list and you can start messaging each other.

Peanut also lets you form groups to chat or arrange meet-ups and events. Want to organise a coffee date or a night out? Simply suggest an activity and poll the group members to easily decide on a preferred date and time. Once the poll closes, the event will automatically sync with your phone calendar.

What makes Peanut so fantastic?

Feeling isolated can be a negative aspect when it comes to being a new mum. Peanut works to create a community of support and friendship to help make the transition into motherhood a bit easier.
