About Child Safe SIM promotion

    The SIM can be used by children, but the main Tesco Mobile account holder must be 18 or over. The main account holder for the Sway.ly subscription must also be 18 or over.

  • Is the Sway.ly app included with the SIM?

    Yes, a 3-month free trial of the Sway.ly Family Plan is included.

  • How do I download and register with Sway.ly app?

    You can download it from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. A compatible device (iOS 15.1 or Android 14+) is required. You should receive an email invite from Sway.ly in 24-48 hrs after purchasing your child SIM. This will contain your unique tesco free trial link and how to register with Sway.ly.

  • Do I need to provide card details to start the free trial?

    Yes, a payment method may be required at signup, but you will not be charged for the initial 3 months free trial period.

  • What happens after the free trial ends—will I be charged?

    Unless cancelled, the subscription continues at £4.99/month for up to 9 months.

  • How do I cancel the Sway.ly trial to avoid charges?

  • How does this deal work?

    With this deal, you’ll collect an extra 300 Clubcard points in any billing month when you spend £50 or more on your Tesco shop in one go (and use your Tesco Clubcard) in a Tesco store or on Tesco.com during your 12-month SIM only contract (minimum contract period). That’s up to 3,600 extra points in total – worth £36.

    Even better, these extra points are on top of the usual points you already collect when using your Clubcard on your Tesco shop – 1 point for every £1 spent.

    Just make sure to link your Clubcard to your Tesco Mobile account using the Tesco Mobile app. Here’s what to do once you’ve popped your new SIM into your phone:

    A SIM only deal gives you a SIM card with a set allowance of data, minutes and texts, with no mobile phone included. You can get a pay monthly SIM only deal (SIM only contract) or a pay as you go SIM. Our SIM only contracts come with unlimited minutes and texts, and you can choose the amount of data and contract length you want (12 or 24 months), compare our best SIM only deals today.

  • What does SIM only mean?

    SIM only means a deal where you get a SIM card with a set allowance of data, minutes and texts, with no mobile phone included. You can go for a pay monthly SIM (SIM only contract) or a pay as you go SIM.

  • How does SIM only work?

    When you take out one of our SIM only contracts, we’ll send you your SIM via Royal Mail Tracked 24 post. You can then put your new SIM in your mobile phone and start using your data, minutes and texts allowances.

    When you order one of our free pay as you go SIMs, we’ll send this to you via Royal Mail 1st Class post. You can then put this in your phone and add a Rocket Pack of your choice, to get your data, minutes and texts for the month.

  • What happens when my SIM only contract ends?

    When your SIM only contract ends, if you do nothing, your SIM only plan will continue on a rolling monthly basis, and you’ll be able to keep using your usual data, minutes and texts allowances. You can also choose to upgrade to a new plan or cancel your plan.

  • Can I keep my number on a SIM only deal?

    You can keep your number when you take out a SIM only deal.

    If you’re switching to us from another network, you’ll need to get a PAC code and give this to us when you join. For more info, please go to our ‘Switch to Tesco Mobile’ page.

  • Are your SIM only deals a fixed price?

    Offering the reassurance of frozen prices has always been important to us. So, if you take out one of our exclusive Clubcard Price deals, you won’t need to worry about mid-contract price increases – because we promise to freeze your monthly price for the length of your minimum contract period.

    An annual increase to this price each April will only apply once your minimum contract period ends.

    If you take out a non-Clubcard Price deal, your basic monthly usage price or basic monthly price (depending on your contract type) will receive an annual increase each April. These future price increases will be shown in pounds (£) and pence (p) at the point of sale, for your minimum contract period.

  • How can I check if I have a compatible 4G or 5G phone?

    The 3G network has now been withdrawn across the UK. You may still see a 3G signal in some places for a short period in early 2026, but the network will soon be switched off.

    You can use our handy 4G Calling tool to see if your phone is compatible. Simply follow the link, then enter the manufacturer and model of your device.

    This tool will also give you exact instructions for how to turn on 4G Calling (also known as VoLTE). The process varies for different phones, but it’s easy and won’t take long.

  • What if I do not have a compatible 4G or 5G phone?

    The 3G network has now been withdrawn across the UK. You may still see a 3G signal in some places for a short period in early 2026, but the network will soon be switched off. There will be no impact to calling emergency services as these calls use the 2G network which will remain in service.
