  • What Tesco Mobile plans are eligible for Safe Start?

    We have 3 dedicated Safe Start SIM only plans available – 2GB, 12GB and 30GB. You can also get Safe Start on all pay monthly plans for iPhone16e and Samsung A17 during our promotional period.
  • Are there any age restrictions for using the Safe Start SIM?

    The SIM can be used by children, but the main Tesco Mobile account holder must be 18 or over. The main account holder for the Sway.ly subscription must also be 18 or over.

  • When does the promotion start and end?

    The promotion runs from 13 July to 6 September 2026.

  • Do I get Family Perks with a Safe Start plan?

    All of our Safe Start SIM only plans, as well as Safe Start pay monthly plans are available in Tesco Mobile stores, as well as online and over the phone.

Plan Features & Usage

  • Can I transfer an existing number to a Safe Start plan?

    Yes, you can transfer an existing number to Tesco Mobile when activating your SIM or phone contract. Learn more about switching to Tesco Mobile.

  • Can I cancel the plan at any time?

    If you’re still in your cooling-off period, which lasts for 14 days, you can cancel without charge. If you cancel later, before the end of your contract, you may be subject to an early termination charge, as set out in our terms and conditions. When you cancel your Safe Start plan, your subscription to Sway.ly will also be cancelled.

  • Is there a cooling-off period if I change my mind?

    Yes, Tesco Mobile offers a standard cooling-off period as part of our general terms and conditions.

  • Will my child be able to contact customer service or make account changes?

    Only the main account holder, who must be at least 18 years old, can make changes to the account.

  • Do I earn Clubcard points with this SIM?

    Yes, the main account holder earns Clubcard points on bill spend. Points can be redeemed for discounts on bills or used with Reward Partners (e.g., £5 Cineworld tickets, theme park discounts, Pizza Express offers).

  • How can I check that I’ve received my Clubcard points?

    You can check your Clubcard account online or via the Tesco Clubcard app.

  • What is the Sway.ly app and how does it work with my Safe Start plan?

    Sway.ly is the world-first app that monitors social media activity across devices, alerts parents to harmful content, and encourages positive online habits. When you take out one of our Safe Start plans, you can enjoy up to 12 months’ free access to Sway.ly.

  • How does social media tracking work and how can I check it on my child’s phone?

    The Sway.ly app monitors social feeds, like Instagram, TikTok and YouTube on their devices. It can flag harmful content, such as hate, violence or misinformation, and alerts you if your child is seeing risky content. It explains why content might be harmful and offers guidance on how to build healthier online habits.

  • How do I download and register with Sway.ly app?

    You can download it from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. A compatible device (iOS 15.1 or Android 14+) is required. You should receive an email invite from Sway.ly in 24-48 hrs after purchasing your child SIM. This will contain your unique tesco free trial link and how to register with Sway.ly.

  • What happens after the 12 months’ free Sway.ly subscription ends – will I be charged?

    After 12 months, your Sway.ly subscription will come to an end. You’ll have the option to continue your subscription with a pay monthly plan. Sway.ly will share all the plan details with you before the end of your free subscription period. For any billing-related queries connected to your Sway.ly subscription, please contact Sway.ly at support@sway.ly or call 0203 916 5626.

  • How do I cancel the Sway.ly trial to avoid charges?

    You can cancel your subscription through the Sway.ly app in the “Manage Subscription” section or by emailing support@sway.ly before your 12 months’ free Sway.ly ends.

  • Will I be tied into a contract if I don’t cancel the trial?

    No long-term contract, but charges will apply monthly unless you cancel.

  • I am having trouble to claim my free trial

    Sway.ly provides support through their website and app. To activate your free trial, sign up for Sway.ly using the same email address you used with Tesco. You’ll receive an email invitation from Sway.ly within 24–48 hours after purchasing your child SIM. This email will include your unique Tesco free trial link and instructions on how to register with Sway.ly.
