Parental Controls
Tesco Mobile Parental Controls
Parental controls help block unsuitable content when your children go online using mobile data.
You can choose your parental control level – under 12 or the default under 18.
To change your content settings, you need to confirm your age first. Once confirmed, you can change your content settings at any time in your Account.
To manage your parental controls, login to My Account and follow these steps:
- In the section Manage account
- Click Manage Parental Controls
- Select the Update button, next to Parental controls and favourite numbers
- On the Security Settings page, enter or create your PIN
- From here you can restrict your content to either under 12s, under 18s or 18+
- If you haven't already confirmed that you're over 18, this is where we'll ask you to confirm your age with your credit card (Visa or Mastercard, sorry no debit cards - if you don't have a credit card, then please contact us. )
- We’ll use your credit card details to verify this, no money will be deducted from your account.
You can also call 282 from your Tesco Mobile handset to manage your Parental Controls.
On-Device Parental Controls
Depending on your children’s device, you can also set parental controls directly on their device. This helps give protection when they’re connected to Wi‑Fi.

Conversation Starters
Starting well makes all the difference. Here are 3 easy ways to start positive, meaningful family conversations about online safety:
- Ask positive, open questions
Try friendly questions like ‘What’s your favourite app?’ or ‘Who do you enjoy chatting with online?’ These help your children feel relaxed and willing to share.
- Show genuine interest – join their world
Get involved by asking things like ‘Can you show me how that game works?’ or ‘What do you like most about that app?’ This builds trust and keeps conversations positive.
- Talk about online safety together
Use everyday moments to ask gentle, practical questions such as ‘What would you do if someone you don’t know messaged you?’ This helps make online safety feel like a normal part of daily life.
Talking to your children about online safety does not have to be difficult. Check out our helpful conversation starter guide and start your conversation today.
