If your phone’s lost, stolen or damaged, we want to help you get it sorted, as quickly we can, wherever you are in the world.

If you’re in mainland Great Britain you’ll get a replacement phone the next day if your claim’s approved by 8:30pm Monday to Friday or by 2:30pm at weekends, not including bank holidays. Otherwise, your replacement will be delivered within two days.

How to get covered

It’s easy – when you buy your new phone or upgrade, you can buy Tesco Mobile Protect at the same time. It’s available on most of our pay monthly phones. Just so you know, you can’t buy it after your contract’s started.

Tesco Mobile Protect doesn’t cover

  • Your excess fee
  • Accessory only claims
  • Accessories other than the battery, mains charger, and hands-free kit that came in the box with your handset.
  • Any fault with your phone during the manufacturer’s warranty period
  • A third or subsequent claim in any 12 month period – we’ll cancel your policy if you’ve made two successful claims in any 12 month period
  • Cosmetic damage (your phone still works as normal)
  • Damage caused by making alterations to the phone
  • Any problems caused by acting against manufacturer guidelines

Get money off your premium with Family Perks

If you have more than one number on your account, you each get to choose a free monthly Family Perk. When you buy your phone, you can choose to get money off Tesco Mobile Protect as your Family Perk.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a claim?

You can make a claim online 24/7 by clicking here. Alternatively, you can call us on 0345 0303 290 between 8am and 9pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 6pm at weekends*. And, if all’s good we’ll do all we can to get a replacement phone to you the next day. To get next day delivery, you need to be in mainland Great Britain when you make your claim and it needs to be approved by 8.30pm Monday to Friday or by 2.30pm at weekends. Otherwise, your replacement will be delivered within two days.

How many times can I claim?

You can make two claims in any 12 month period. So, if you make a claim on 10 January, you can make one more claim any time up until midnight on 9 January the following year. Once you’ve made two claims in 12 months we’ll cancel your policy.

What kind of damage can I claim for?

Chips, cracks, dents and smashed screens are all covered, and so is liquid, malicious or pet damage. However, if it’s just light cosmetic damage and your phone still works as normal, you won’t be able to make a claim. Can I get a Tesco Mobile Protect policy any time?

No, you have to get Tesco Mobile Protect when you get your new phone or upgrade. You can’t add it later.

When I upgrade, what happens to the insurance policy I’ve already got?

If you decide to get Tesco Mobile Protect for your new phone, then your old insurance policy will be cancelled. We’ll let you know when we cancel it. If you’d like to keep the policy on your old phone, just give us a call on 0345 0303 290. We’re open 8am to 9pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 6pm at weekends*.

If you decide not to get Tesco Mobile Protect for your new phone, your old policy will stay active unless you cancel it. We’ll send you a reminder so you can decide what to do.

What’s the difference between Full cover and Damage cover?

Both options cover you worldwide for accidental damage, including liquid, malicious or pet damage, plus cracked screens. Full cover also protects you against loss and theft worldwide, whether your phone was with you, a friend or a family member.

How do I know if I’ve got Tesco Mobile Protect or the old Tesco Phone Insurance?

If you bought your insurance on or after 15 November 2017 then you’ve got Tesco Mobile Protect. If you bought your insurance before 15 November 2017 then you’ve got Tesco Phone Insurance.

When will I get my replacement phone?

We’ll do all we can to get a replacement phone to you the next day. To get next day delivery, you need to be in mainland Great Britain when you make your claim and it needs to be approved by 8.30pm Monday to Friday or by 2.30pm at weekends. Otherwise, your replacement will be delivered within two days.

What happens if my replacement phone is delivered late?

If we don’t get the replacement phone to you when we said we would, and it’s not because of bank holidays or situations out of our control, we’ll give you £15 to say sorry. Our terms and conditions have a full explanation of how this works.

How long have I got to send my damaged phone back to you?

You’ll have 15 days to send your damaged phone back to us in the prepaid packaging that we’ll send to you. If we don’t get it back within 15 days, we’ll charge you a non-return fee, based on the value of the damaged phone. You can get this fee refunded though, if you send the phone back to us after the 15 days is up.

Are the replacement phones covered by warranty?

Absolutely! All replacement devices come with a 24 month warranty. To find out more, give us a call on 0345 030 3290*.

Do replacement phones come with accessories?

No, your replacement phone won’t come with any accessories unless they were lost or damaged as part of the incident being claimed for. For example, if your headphones were stolen along with your phone, then we’ll replace them too.

Will my replacement phone be the same as my old one?

In most cases it will be a like-for-like replacement. However, it sometimes happens that the phone isn’t available anymore. In this case we’ll send you a phone as close as possible to the make and model of the original. For example, if you claim for a Samsung Galaxy S6, if we can’t get you another one, we may send you a Samsung Galaxy S7 instead.

Can I cancel my policy any time?

You can cancel your policy any time you like by calling 0345 0303 290*. Your cover will continue until the end of the month you’ve just paid for. If you cancel within 28 days of starting your policy, then no payment will be taken, as long as you haven’t made a claim.

How do I get money off Tesco Mobile Protect with Family Perks?

If you’ve got more than one number on your account, you can each choose a free monthly Family Perk. To get money off Tesco Mobile Protect, you need to choose this as your Family Perk at the time when you buy your phone – it won’t be available after that. You’ll get money off your premium every month unless you change your Family Perk. Please bear in mind that, unlike other Family Perks, if you swap it for another one, you can’t choose money off Tesco Mobile Protect again.

The amount you get off your premium depends on how much your monthly tariff is. If you change your tariff up or down, then the amount you’ll save each month may change. It can take up to two months for this to show on your bill.

If I’ve already got Tesco Mobile Protect or the old Tesco insurance and Family Perks, can I get the money off Tesco Mobile Protect Family Perk?

Unfortunately not, you’ll only be able to choose the money off Tesco Mobile Protect Family Perk when you start a new contract or upgrade with us.

Can I change my money off Tesco Mobile Protect Family Perk each month, like I can with the others?

Money off Tesco Mobile Protect is different from the other Family Perks because you can only choose it when you buy your phone. If you decide to change it for another Family Perk, you won’t be able to change it back again. It can take up to two months for this to show on your bill.

What happens if I change my tariff during my contract and move into a new Family Perks price band?

The amount you get off your premium depends on how much your monthly tariff is. So if you change your tariff up or down, the amount you’ll save each month may change. It can take up to two months for this to show on your bill.

Is the Family Perks discount the same for full cover and damage cover?

Yes, you’ll get exactly the same discount, whether you choose Full cover or Damage cover.
