We’re updating our network to bring you a faster, more reliable service. As part of these changes, we’ve started switching off our 3G service, with complete switch-off due by the end of 2025.
Some phones do not currently support 4G Calling (also known as VoLTE). To avoid connection issues, you’ll need to update your phone's software.
If you don’t update your software, you’ll have limited connectivity once our 3G network is switched off. You won’t be able to use mobile data or apps like WhatsApp, unless you're connected to Wi-Fi, and may experience poor call quality. Let’s make sure you’re ready for the change.
This software update applies to the following phone model numbers. If your phone is not listed, your device may already allow you to enable 4G Calling or you may need to upgrade your device.

To find your Samsung device's model number, navigate to the Settings app, then tap ‘About phone’ or ‘About device.’
Follow these instructions to update your Samsung phone’s software
- You’ll get a notification asking you to update and restart your phone
- Tap ‘Apply and restart’ to begin the update process
- Not ready yet? If you choose ‘Later’, we’ll keep reminding you until it’s done
- Once updated, you’re all set — 4G Calling will turn on automatically

Apple devices
You may need to download a software update if you are using an iPhone 7, iPhone 8 or an iPhone X variant.
To find your Apple device's model number, navigate to the Settings app, then tap ‘General’, then tap ‘About.’
Follow these instructions to update your Apple phone’s software
- Open Settings → Tap General → Then About
- See a pop-up? Tap Update to refresh your carrier settings
- Haven’t updated? You’ll get a reminder on your home screen after two weeks
