Happy New Year from Tesco Mobile! If you’ve decided to set yourself some resolutions for 2017, we’re here to help you see them through – at least until February… Maybe you want to break bad habits, get fitter, or learn a new language? No matter what your New Year’s resolutions may be, here’s our favourite apps to help you achieve them.

Duolingo

If you want to learn a new language this year, then Duolingo is the app for you. Take your pick from fifteen languages, including French, German and Spanish, and master your chosen vocabulary with the help of Duo the owl. Duolingo makes learning fun by transforming it into a game – practice speaking, reading, listening and writing by completing each lesson at your own pace. Start off slow with basic verbs, phrases and sentences, before tackling the harder terminology. Bonne chance!

Featuring products specifically recommended by nutritionists, you can use it to source healthier food and drink for your lifestyle. Shoptimix is particularly beneficial if you have special dietary requirements, as it contains expert lists on vegan diets, as well as gluten and dairy free. Is 2017 the year you finally want to take up running? There’s plenty of couch to 5K apps out there to help you, but we recommend giving C25K a try. Setting a concrete goal is one of the best ways to motivate yourself, so aiming to complete a 5K run is a good place to start. The best thing about this resolution is it’s achievable within a few months, so you can be smug by March that you’ve achieved your goal!

Book Tracker

If your aim for 2017 is to read more, then let Book Tracker help you achieve your goal. To add a book, all you need to do is scan the barcode or search by title or author. Then, simply keep track of what page you’re on and mark it finished once you’re done. At the end of the year, you’ll be able to see how many books you managed to read throughout the last twelve months.

MyFitnessPal

Calorie-counting is one of the most effective ways of shedding some pounds. MyFitnessPal has more than five million foods listed in its database, including calorie intake and nutritional value, so keeping track of what you’re eating has never been easier. Either search the database manually or scan the barcode to find it instantly. If you can’t find your food in the database, MyFitnessPal can estimate the calorie intake of any recipe on the Internet – all you need to do is copy and paste its URL into the app to find out.
